Joffrey Ballet’s Performance of “The Nutcracker”
The Joffrey Ballet’s annual performance of The Nutcracker is a longtime holiday tradition. The classic ballet, composed by Tchaikovsky, follows the story of a young girl and her mother preparing for a Christmas dinner in 1892 just before the World’s Fair. When everyone has gone to bed, the girl is transported to a dreamlike world where her Christmas gifts come to life.
The Nutcracker runs through December 29th at the Auditorium Theatre in the Loop. Click here for tickets.
“Merry, Merry, Chicago!” at Chicago Symphony Orchestra
In Merry, Merry, Chicago! the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus perform holiday favorites, carols, and an appearance by Santa Claus. The performance will be conducted by guest conductor, Emil de Cou, and runs December 14th-23rd.

“A Christmas Carol” at the Goodman Theatre
A Christmas Carol has been a holiday favorite for over forty years. The story, originally written by Charles Dickens, follows Ebenezer Scrooge as he learns about compassion, kindness, and redemption. Tickets are available through December 29th.
Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” at the Cadillac Palace Theatre
Broadway in Chicago’s White Christmas is sure to leave you full of holiday cheer! Choose Chicago says White Christmas is full of, “dancing, laughter, and some of the greatest music ever written”. Don’t miss out! This Broadway musical only runs through mid December.
