Whether you’re looking for a contemporary accent piece, functional furniture for your small space, a timeless antique, or a whole new eclectic midcentury collection for your apartment, these furniture stores near Fulton Market are a must!
Knoll – 811 W Fulton Market
Knoll has distinct collections for both commercial and residential spaces, including their hybrid work from home collection. Knoll’s style could best be described as contemporary, minimalist, and functional (think “IKEA’s upscale cousin”). If you’re partial to mid-century modern design or are a big believer that “less is more”, Knoll’s Mies van der Rohe collection might have just what you’re looking for. Knoll recently moved from Merchandise Mart to their new Fulton Market showroom, which was designed in collaboration with Gensler.
Make a reservation and visit their trendy new showroom. If you can’t make it to the showroom (or don’t have a car and can’t stomach carrying your new desk and sofa all the way home), most items from Knoll ship free within 1 to 3 business days.
Primitive – 130 N Jefferson St.
There are some furniture stores where it helps to know what you’re looking for before you go. This is not one of those places. Primitive, on the eastern end of the West Loop, features both modern and antique furniture, accent pieces, jewelry, artifacts, lighting, paintings, textiles, and more from over 100 different cultures around the globe. According to their site, Primitive’s collection is “from some of the world’s hardest to reach places and everything has been carefully selected for its inherent merit and meaning”. Although it is temporarily closed, their “Buddha Room” is a popular event venue. Primitive can feel more like a museum than a store. This is the place to go to find one in a million curated pieces, not to find bargains. Browse their site to get an idea of how extensive this world class collection truly is!
Morlen Sinoway Atelier -1052 W Fulton Market
Morlen Sinoway is a multi-disciplinary design studio representing over 60 brands. Their show room features contemporary furniture, lighting, and various accents for the home. If you find yourself overwhelmed by their extensive 60 brand catalog, Morlen Sinoway’s interior design staff will be happy to lend a hand (or an eye, rather). Whether you’re looking for an individual piece to tie your loft together or a complete redesign of your space, Morlen Sinoway Atelier is worth checking out.
South Loop Loft- 685 N. Milwaukee Ave
“South Loop Loft” is kind of a misnomer, as this hidden gem furniture store is located in the River West neighborhood, just blocks north of Fulton Market. South Loop Loft is the place to go for 20th century furnishings and decor from around the globe, custom designed pieces, and an ever-changing inventory of hand picked pieces. Make an appointment to check out their showroom!
